Just a note to say I'm sorry for your loss as the family of Bernice Allen Davis. Her photo's indicate that she was a very sweet, loving person. It is always hard to lose family members. I am Vernell Wheeler Shuford, a granddaughter of Clausel Finley Allen who was a brother to Nancy Jane Allen, grandmother of Bernice. In looking at the family photo's I realize that I do not know any one of your family. However, as a young girl, I do remember seeing Aunt Nancy Jane at my grandparents home, one time. My dad was pastor of Bald Mountain FWB Church, Yancey County, NC, for many years and I remember Rev.Vestal Edward visited the church many times when I was present. He would sometimes have a testimony for the people. Our Allen families all descend from the same root, Rev. John Wheeler. Nancy Jane's grandparents were Nathan O. and Lucinda Wheeler Allen. Lucinda was the eldest child of Rev. John and Rhoda Ray Wheeler. Rev. John and Rhoda Ray are my gr.gr. grandparents on my dad's side and my gr. gr. gr. grandparents on my mothers side. Also, Rev. John and Rhoda were the gr. gr. gr. grandparents of Clyde Allen, father to Bernice. It would be interesting to know who the subjects are in the photographs. If anyone is interested you may contact me at vernellshuford@gmail.com. Again, may you all be comforted in knowing there are friends who care.
