Evelyn Hampton

Evelyn Edwards Hampton a loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully Thursday morning November 20, 2014 at Fletchers Fairview Health Center in Fairview, North Carolina. Mrs. Hampton was a native of Erwin, Tennessee. She was born November 21, 1938 to the late John and Leona Edwards. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years Marvin D. Hampton. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church. She loved reading, working in their ceramic shop either painting or teaching classes. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Survives by her two children Donald Hampton and wife, Kathy of Elizabethton, TN and Karen Presnell and husband Gary of Asheville, NC, two siblings Ella Jean (Edwards) Bailey and Buster Edwards of Erwin, two grandchildren Whitney (Hampton) Keplinger, who was raised by Evelyn, and husband, Thomas of Erwin and Annaliza (Watkins) Anis and husband, Randy of Vancouver, WA and one great-granddaughter Jenna Keplinger and several nieces and nephews. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family of Evelyn Hampton will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 1:00 PM and continue until 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home followed by a committal service in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor Chris Ward will officiate.
