James “Jimmy” Fender, age 61, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Yancey County N.C. and a son of the late Dave and Velva Adkins Fender. James was employed as supervisor for Burton Rubber. He attended Pentecostal Holiness Church and loved fishing, horseback riding, motorcycles, camping and hunting. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by four brothers: Hoyle, Shirl, Harley and Gary Fender and a sister: Lois Flythe.James has left behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 39 years, Teresa Fender; Sons: Justin Fender and (Trisha Garrett) of Gray, Joshua Fender of Erwin, Joe Longworth of Erwin; Grandchildren: Jaxon, Parker and Brayden; Sisters: Verlyn Bailey of Johnson City, Judy Hilbert and husband Willie of Jonesborough; Special Niece: Shelia Hale of Conway, NC; Special Nephew: Harley Fender and his wife Brandy of Jonesborough; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.The family request the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of James Fender in a funeral service at 8:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Russell Payne Jr. will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 PM and continue until service time on Friday. A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Silvers Cemetery, Jonesborough. Those who plan to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home at 10:15 AM, Saturday, to go in procession to Silvers Cemetery.
