Patsy Ann Gilbert

Patsy Engle Gilbert, age 62, of Erwin, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was a native of Erwin and a daughter of the late Orvil Engle and Irene Hopson Engle Roberts. She was a member of Lily Dale Church of Christ, where she was actively involved in the Ladies Circle. Patsy was a nurse who worked locally in the hospital and nursing homes prior to being employed by the Johnson City and Unicoi County school systems, where she worked passionately with special needs children for more than a decade. She loved to sew, camp and travel, and she spent every moment she could with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Patsy is preceded in death by an infant sister, Brenda Sue and by her step-father, Jay Roberts.Patsy Engle Gilbert has left behind to cherish her memories: Husband of 45 years: Glenn Gilbert, of Erwin; Children: Carl Gilbert and wife Anna; Sara Schwenke and husband Gary; Mark Gilbert; Grandchildren: Chase Gilbert; Ava Gilbert; Madeleine Gilbert; Abbygale Gilbert; Dakota Schwenke; Blake Schwenke; Sisters: Linda Fore and husband Bob; Joyce Davis and husband David; Step-brothers: Larry Roberts; Gary Roberts Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Patsy Engle Gilbert in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Jeremy Green will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and will continue until service time on Tuesday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in the mausoleum chapel at Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 9:30 AM to go in procession.
