J C Bryant

J C Bryant, age 87, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Unicoi County Hospital. Mr. Bryant is a native of White Oak Flats, NC and a son of the late Frank Bryant and Janie Miller Bryant. J C was a faithful member of Pilgrim Free Will Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal. J. C. worked as a painter for the former MorFlo. He enjoyed taking family and friends out to eat. In addition to his parents, J C is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dixie Lee (Tipton) Bryant, 2 Brothers, 6 Sisters, daughter-in-law, Peggy Elouise Bryant, and a granddaughter, Shannia Miller.J C Bryant leaves behind to cherish his memory: Daughters: Kathy Ann Higgins (Larry) of Jonesborough, Marcella Bryant (Dale Kittle) of Fort Payne, AL; Sons: Randy David Bryant of Johnson City; Jeffery Scott Bryant (Linda) of Erwin; 6 Grandchildren 12 Great-grandchildren:The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of J C Bryant in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Hughes and Rev. Gordon Lewis officiating. Vocal selections will be provided by Tim Higgins and also by Ken Mills. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 pm and will continue until service time on Wednesday, in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 2:00p, on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:30 PM to go in procession to Evergreen. Military graveside honors will be rendered by the United States Army.
