Kenneth Franklin Crowder, Sr., age 76, of Erwin, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Unicoi County, Kenneth is a son of the late Robert and Gladys (Bennett) Crowder. He attended Enon Baptist Church and a pipefitter and welder for TVA, where he retired after 28 years of service. Kenneth was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a wonderful husband and father who always gave 100 in everything he ever did. He received the Erwin Big 10 award for Unicoi County High School football. He loved fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his brother, Charles David Crowder; sister, Virginia Crowder; and great nephew, Nick Crowder.Kenneth Franklin Crowder, Sr. has left behind to cherish his memory: Wife of 50 years: Wanda Crowder, of Jonesborough; Daughter: Julie Kalakauskis and husband, Hank, of Knoxville; Son: Kenneth F. Crowder, Jr. and wife, Regina, of Jonesborough; Sister: Charlotte Johnson and husband, Ron, of SC; Several nieces and nephews.The family would like to offer special thanks to the paramedics at Medic One and the staff at Johnson City Medical Center for all of their efforts.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Kenneth Franklin Crowder, Sr. in a committal service to be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2018 in Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend David Effler will officiate. Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:30 PM to go in procession.
