Kenneth Gilbert

Kenneth H. Gilbert, age 78, of 415 Clinchfield Avenue, Erwin, passed away October 18, 2005 at the Unicoi County Long Term Care Unit. Kenneth was born in Erwin to the parents of Earl and Ida Lewis Gilbert, Sr. He served his country in the Army then went to work for Clinchfield Railroad as a carman for 40 years. He was a member of the Lilydale Church of Christ. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Higgins Gilbert who he was married to for 50 years. Kenneth leaves behind one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Bonnie Gilbert, Unicoi; one very special granddaughter, Chelsea Gilbert, Unicoi; One brother, Herb Gilbert, Erwin; Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Gilbert will be Friday, October 21, 2005, in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home at eight o'clock. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service. Reverend Joel Tramel and Reverend James Miller will be officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2005, at Roselawn Memory Gardens at 11 o'clock. All those planning on attending the graveside services are asked to meet at Valley Funeral Home at 10:30 Saturday morning to go in procession to the cemetery.
