Larry Dean Tipton

August 30, 1963 - March 3, 2022

Mr. Larry "Dean" Tipton, age 58, of Flag Pond, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at his home, surrounded his family and friends. Dean was born in Erwin, TN, and was the son of the late James "Howard" Tipton and Glenna Hensley Tipton. He was a member of little Creek First Baptist Church in Mars Hill, NC, where he was an inactive Deacon and former Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and playing guitar with his son, brother and friends. Dean Tipton has left behind to cherish his memory: son: Samuel "Jordan" Tipton of Flag Pond; daughter: Lindsey E. L. Tipton; mother of his children: Angie Tipton, both of Mars Hill, NC; brother: Gary L. Tipton and Linda, of Flag Pond, TN; several nieces and nephews, special aunts and uncles, and lots of cousins; significant other: Karen Thomas and her children, Samantha and Amanda Thomas. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Dean Tipton in a graveside committal service to be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 6, 2022 in Hensley Family Cemetery (Rector Laurel Community of Flag Pond). Reverend Nelson Ponder and Pastor Kermit Ball will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 1:30 pm and will continue until 2:30 pm on Sunday, March 6, 2022 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:30 pm on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Chad Davis, Bruce Cody, Carroll Tipton, Brandon Davis, Jacob Carver and Dalton Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dean's name to Valley Funeral Home, 1085 N Main Avenue, Erwin, TN 37650 to help cover final expenses.
