Lucinda "Lucy" Velez

March 26, 1955 - April 16, 2022

Lucinda “Lucy” Rigdon - Velez, age 67, of Erwin, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Lucy was the daughter of the late Abbott and Nancy Lieberman, born in Duluth, MN, and eventually moving to Jacksonville, FL, where she would grow into the woman that we all knew and loved. She was a woman full of spontaneity and creativity, which led her to live a life full of adventure and beautiful moments. She could often be found working on her latest painting, crocheting, writing to and about loved ones, and above all bragging about her children and grandchildren. She loved and cherished time spent with both of her dogs, Chloe and Josie. In addition to her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by biological father: Rayburn Roulston; brothers: Jeffrey Roulston, Bob Roulston, and Leslie Lieberman, and brother-in-law: Jack Kirkland. Lucy leaves behind many special and extended family members to cherish her memory: children: Allison and Harold Tipton, Courtney Rigdon, Megan and (Paul) Shelton, Kara and (Mike) Bradford, and Tara and Michael Baker; grandchildren: Hannah Shelton, Maddox Simmons, Liam Baker, and Miles Bradford; siblings: Wendy Kirkland, Lory David, Debby Rhodes, Abby Lieberman, and Randy Jo; step-mother: Ruthie Roulston; special sister-in-law, Peg Roulston; special friend: Harry Rigdon; special niece: Leslie Kirkland Jackson; and several beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at The Bramble in Erwin, TN. This celebration will include a visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family beginning at 1:00 pm with a memorial service to follow in remembrance of the life of Lucy at 3:00 pm. Flowers are appreciated, however, if you wish to honor Lucy’s love for animals, a donation can be made in her name to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter, 185 N Industrial Drive, Erwin, TN 37650.
