Patricia Tipton

March 10, 1947 - January 29, 2018

Patricia Inez Tipton, age 70, of Erwin, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 29, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, after a brief illness. A native of Erwin, Patricia was a daughter of the late Don Lowell and Juanita Rebecca (Moore) Tipton. She was a member of Unaka Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed acting in skits and singing. She loved to draw and received a drawing and arts award from Clinchfield Senior Adult Center, where she also volunteered her time. Patricia was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, who was dearly loved by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Mathes and one grandchild, Mariana Griffith. Patricia Inez Tipton leaves behind to cherish her memory: Husband: Robert Lee Tipton; Daughter: Robin Griffith and husband, Charles, of Johnson City; Their daughter: Caroline; Daughter: Ginger Puryear and husband, Michael, of Sulphur Springs; Their son: Colin; Sister: Judy Edwards and husband, Floyd, of Erwin; Brother: Douglas Tipton and wife, Shirley, of Erwin; Stepdaughter: Tonya Green and husband, Randy, of Bumpass Cove; Their children: Rhonda and Cody; Stepson: Robbie Tipton, of Erwin; His children: Alisha and Jacob; Stepson: Rusty Tipton and wife, Sandra, of Buladean, NC; Their children: Lucas and Whitney; Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff of the Johnson City Medical Center, Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Unicoi County Memorial Hospital, Terry Morgan, and the staff at Center on Aging and Health. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Patricia Inez Tipton in a funeral service to be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Charles Randy Griffith will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 AM and will continue until the hour of service at Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday. A committal service will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Those attending will meet at Roselawn Memory Gardens by 10:50 AM for the service. Pallbearers will be notified. Honorary pallbearer will be Douglas Tipton.
