Pearl M. Banks, age 93, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at her home. A native of Johnson City, Pearl is a daughter of the late William H. Moore, Sr. and Miniah Marie (McKinney) Moore. She was a long-standing member of Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Pastor's wife, Choir Leader, Piano Player, Women's Sunday School Class Teacher, Youth Group Director, and Ladies Aid. Pearl was a member of the Voices of Gospel group for more than 40 years. She served as a Recreational Therapist at Green Valley Developmental Center for 30 years. She enjoyed square dancing, camping, sewing, and bowling and she was a very talented musician. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents William H. Moore, Sr. and Miniah McKinney Moore; brother, William H. Moore, Jr.; niece, Paula Moore; husband, Reverend Ottis Jerome Banks; and several extended family members.Pearl M. Banks has left behind to cherish her memory: daughter: Doris June Roberts; grandchildren: Lori Allen (Ray), Heather Miller, Anthony Roberts, II, and Nichole Chatman (David); great-grandchildren: Billy Shelton, Jr., Gavin Miller (Erin), Thomas Beam, Rheagan Shelton, Logan Roberts, and Xavier Roberts; great-great-grandchild, Aiden Wooten; nieces: Linda Trivette (Ralph) and Teresa McDonald (Rick); nephews: Kenneth Moore and Geff Moore (Dolores); sisters-in-law: Miniah Waites and Barbara Reneau; several nieces and nephews.The family would like to offer special thanks to Frances Hodge for all of your love and care.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life Pearl M. Banks in a celebration of her life to be held 1:00 pm on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Brad Willis and Reverend Brian Brown will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 am on Friday and will continue until service time at the church. A graveside committal service will be held following the celebration of life in Bumpus Cove Cemetery, with Reverend Dean Presnell officiating. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church by 1:00 pm on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
