Thorn Lopez Kegley

Thorn Lopez Kegley, age 67, of Erwin passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the James H. Quillin VA Medical Center. Mr. Kegley was born on September 10, 1947 in Erwin, TN a son of the late Thero and Emma Gillis Kegley. Mr. Kegley was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Army, he later served his community for 10 years as a police officer. He was a member of the Erwin Church of Christ. He was a woodcarver, artist, author and brick mason. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Bailey Kegley in 2002, a granddaughter Carrie Kegley, a sister, Elizabeth Gilmore, a brother, Farrell Kegley and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Kegley.Thorn Lopez Kegley leaves behind to cherish his memory: Son: John Kegley and his wife Sharon of Erwin; Daughters: Meredith Kim Landingham and her husband Anthony of Charleston, SC; Christina Kegley Shropshire and her husband Tommy of Newport, TN; April Kegley Tidmore and her husband Michael of Walland, TN; Grandchildren: Austin and Angel Kegley of Erwin; Brothers: Marvin Kegley and his wife Doris of Erwin; Noel Kegley of Bristol, TN; Sisters: Dorothy Rogers and her husband Clay of Embreeville; Margaret Halas and her husband Don of Glen Burnie, MD; Darlene Lewis and her husband Gary of Fall Branch, TN. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Thorn Lopez Kegley in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 27, 2015 in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Minister Jeff Winters officiating. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery.
