Barbara Ruth Sullins, age 72, 314 Pine Street, Erwin, passed away January 28, 2006 at her residence after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.. Barbara, born in Prestonburg, KY, was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and Rebecca V. Plaster Gearhart. She worked for Elias Brothers Big Boy in Michigan for 17 years, at the V.A. Mountain Home, and for Murry Guard at NFS for25 years. She was a member of the Nifty-Fifty Club and was of the Baptist Faith. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to sew, tend to her flowers in her garden, and shopping while she was traveling. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sullins. Barbara leaves behind: three sons, Roy Glenn Sullins, Erwin, Robin Kevin Sullins, Sr, and wife, Angela D., Erwin, John Norman Sullins and wife, Tammy, Unicoi; one daughter, Rebecca Jean Gaskins, Erwin; grandchildren, Robin Kevin Sullins, Jr, Erwin, Jonathan Sullins, Erwin, Darrin Steven Albaugh and wife, Jennifer, Michigan, Daniel Lee Webster, Fort Gordon, GA, Jessica Taylor Sullins, Unicoi, John Glenn Sullins, Unicoi, Jacob Elijah Sullins, Unicoi, Jason Kevin Sullins, Unicoi, Emily Watson, Elizabethton; two great grandchildren, Allisa Albaugh and Justin Albaugh, both of Michigan; sister, Erma Jean Gearhart Smith, Erwin, brother, Larry Curtis Gearhart and wife, Nancy, Flag Pond. Surrogate Daughters, Victoria McGrew, Michigan and Charlotte Townsend, Elizabethton Special and Comforting Friend, Jamie Irvin, CNA; Good friend, Stella Kerns and all her friends at NFS. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at Eight O'clock in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Bruce Shawver will be officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service and also at other times at theBarbara's residence. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at one o'clock at the V.A. Mountain Home Cemetery. All those planning on attending the graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:55 in the afternoon. Active Pallbearers will be Robin Kevin Sullins, Jr, Darrin Steven Albaugh, Daniel Lee Webster, Jonathan C. Sullins, Robin Kevin Sullins, Sr. and Gary Head. Honorary Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the ALS Associatin - TN Chapter, 522 East Iris Drive, Nashville, TN 37204. The family would like to thank the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice for all there love and delicate care they have provided for Mrs. Sullins.
