Calvin Douglas Foster

Calvin Douglas Foster, age 75, of 180 Jakie Farnor Road, Erwin, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Center on Aging and Health. He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Robert and Zula Marvin Foster. Calvin served in the United States Army from 1958 through the early 1960’s, the Army Reserves and the Army National Guard. He was a member of Coffee Ridge Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon on October 15, 1972 and served as the chairman for 12 years. Mr. Foster formerly worked for Davis Chemical, Liberty Lumber, Superior Hone and later retired from C.E. Refractories. Calvin was a devoted father, loving husband and all around person that touched many with his faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foster is preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Renfro and brothers, Clarence Foster and Allen Foster.Calvin Foster has left behind to cherish his memories: Wife: Lana Foster of Erwin Daughters: Camille Foster of Atlanta, GA Melanie Rose and husband, Thomas of Morganton, NC Grandchildren: Taylor Rose, Trenton Rose, and Timothy Rose of Morganton, NC Sister: Betty Pate and husband, Tommy John of Erwin Brothers: Raymond Foster and wife, Frances of Erwin Leonard Foster of Erwin Ernest Foster and wife, Margaret of Johnson City Dennis Foster and wife, Lelian of Erwin Mike Foster of Erwin Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great NephewsThe family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Calvin Douglas Foster in a funeral service to be held at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, May 20, 2014, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Homer Tweed and Reverend Ross Lewis will officiate. Grandson Taylor Rose will provide a eulogy. Vocal selections will be provided by Sue Story and by Beth Scoonover. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:30 PM and continue until service time on Tuesday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in Evergreen Cemetery with the UCHS Jr. ROTC providing military honors. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley on Wednesday by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Mr. Foster’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
