Curtis L. Cooper, age 47, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of Janice Faye Tipton Cooper and the late George P Cooper. Curtis served in the United States Navy and was employed as a Chemical Operator for Eastman. He was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Curtis enjoyed the Southeastern Autorama, golf and was an avid Vols fan. In addition to his father, Curtis is preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Dorothy & John C. Tipton; and paternal grandparents: Marcus & Vira Cooper. In addition to his mother, Curtis has left behind to cherish his memories: his wife of 24 years; Jill Ervin Cooper of Unicoi Daughter: Deanna Brooke Cooper of the home Sister: Christy Runnion of Erwin Nieces: Hannah Runnion of Erwin Madison Dykes of Kingsport Nephew: Dylan Dykes of Kingsport Mother-in-law & Father-in-law: Charles & Midge Ervin of Erwin Brother-in-law: & Sister-in-law: Julie & Lance Dykes Several Cousins, Aunts and UnclesThe family request the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Curtis L. Cooper in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, May 26, 2014, at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and will continue until the service time on Monday. Reverend Noah Taylor and Reverend Danny Hughes will officiate. A committal service will be at 1:45 PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the V. A. Mountain Home Cemetery with Military Honors. Serving as pallbearers is Franklin Holton, Paul Wilkins, Steve Strickland, Gary Sparks, Lance Dykes, Adam Bess, Steven Tipton, James Eddenfield, Rick France and Calvin Edwards. Serving as honorary pallbearers is Southeastern Autorama Members and Eastman Co-workers.
