Della Mae Cooper

Della Mae Cooper, affectionately known as “Miss Della” and “Granny”, age 83, of Erwin, formerly of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. A native of Knoxville, TN, Miss Della was born on October 25, 1930, a daughter of the late James L. and Bonnie Hefner Branum. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Burl Cooper; a Daughter, Libby Lee; Grandsons, Michael Cooper, Larry Lee, Jr, Benjamin Lee and William Burl Cooper II; Granddaughter, Tyjuana Lee; and brother, Buddy Branum. Left behind to cherish her memories are: Sons: MSgt. Mel Cooper and his wife Anita of Erwin; Jerry Cooper of Tyler, TX; Dale Cooper of Knoxville, TN; Daughter: Penny Farrow and her husband Terry of Knoxville, TN; Sisters: Bobbie Lawhorn and her husband Henry of Knoxville, TN; Patsy Hanks and her husband Lynn of Dawsonville, GA; Jan Martin of Houston, TX; 17 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. The life of Della Mae Cooper will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be held at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Bishop John Edwards officiating. Vocal selections will be provided by Terry Farrow. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 PM and continue until service time on Wednesday at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Those attending the graveside service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30AM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
