Franklin Phillips

Franklin Phillips, age 62, 143 Parker Street, Erwin, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at The Johnson City Medical Center after a long fighting battle with cancer. He was a native of Burnsville, NC and was a son of Raleigh and Lida Miller Phillips. He worked for Deamar in Greeneville as a welder for 16 years. He attended Roseville Baptist Church. He was a kind and loving dad and papaw. Other than his father he is preceded in death by one sister Hazel Phillips. He is survived by: His Mother: Lida Miller Phillips, Burnsville, NC; Former Wife and Special Friend: Nancy Phillips, Erwin; and special mother-in-law Katie Lawing Daughter: Angela Duncan and her husband Keith, Erwin; Son: Ricky Phillips and his wife Marilyn, Erwin; Sisters: Edith Phillips, Burnsville, NC; Annie Allen, Burnsville, NC; Esther Bryant, Morganton, NC; Patricia Allman, Newton, NC; Linda Bryant, Erwin; Brothers: Ellis Phillips, Burnsville, NC; Glenn Phillips, Hickory, NC; Dean Phillips, Georgia Grandchildren: Katie Arnett Erik Arnett Brooke Phillips Rickyjoe Franklin Phillips Aunt and Uncle: Cecil and Molly Miller, Burnsville, NC Several Nieces and Nephews Funeral services will be held at eight o'clock, Saturday, May 26, 2007 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Tommy Morrow and Reverend Danny Hughes will officiate the service. Music will be provided by Kim and Tonya Casey and the Roseville Baptist Church choir. Visitation will be held from Six o'clock until the time of the service. Friends may also visit the family at Nancy's home: 251 Stalling Lane, Erwin. Graveside services will be held at Two o'clock on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the Phillips Family cemetery in Burnsville, North Carolina. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Valley Funeral Home to go in procession. Active Pallbearers will be, David Walker, Mark Riddle, J.D. Bryant, Danny Bryant, Jeff Bryant, David Lingerfelt, William Ingram and Bryan Bradley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Riddle, Oakie Bryant, Petey Bradley, Jimmy Gillis, Hank Williams, Brady Bailey, Wayne Shehan, Doyle Riddle, and Ronnie Bennett.
