Hilda Melissa Price Monroe age 83, Erwin, Has gone to be with our Heavenly Father Wednesday, April 20, 2011 with her family by her side. She was a native of Unicoi County and was raised in the Coffee Ridge Community. She was the Daughter of William and Sarah Tilson Price. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy David Monroe; Son, Marty Acuff; Daughter, Phyllis Ann; Brothers, Abner, George, Merritt, Tommy and Talmadge Price; Sisters, Betty Price, Eliza Lewis and Beatrice Williams; Brother-in-laws, James Peters, William Pitt Williams and Harvey Lewis. She is survived by: Sister, Annie Mack Peters; Sons, Lonnie Monroe and wife, Michelle, Johnson City, TN, James Monroe and wife, Sandy, Virginia Beach, VA, Robert Monroe and wife, Nancy, Virginia Beach, VA; Daughter, Tracy Garland and husband, Kent, Unicoi; Grandchildren Christopher Monroe, Chasity Monroe, Unicoi, Brandi Monroe, Cody Monroe, Virginia Beach, VA and Special Granddaughter and Caregiver Valarie Tinker, Unicoi. Six Great Grandchildren, Special Friends and Caregivers, Janie Smith and Zane Black and Several Nieces and Nephews. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 22, 2011 at 7:30 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Paul Ault will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 6:00 PM until service time at Valley Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kent and Tracy Garland, 200 Walter Garland Lane, Unicoi, TN 37692. Committal services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Clear Branch Cemetery. Those who will be attending will meet at the cemetery by 11:50 AM. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601, 423-926-2921 or 1-800-227-2345. Tracy and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Hilda she was one of my favorite patients that come to our office (Dr.Bieberly's) I loved seeing her, she always had a smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Heaven has another angel in the choir.
Dear Family,
I share in your grief. We will truly miss one of God's sweetest creations.
When I spoke with Hilda last week about Easter being this Sunday, she looked at me like she knew she would be spending it in a far better place and with a resurrected Father. That sweet smile said it all. Thank goodness there will be no more pain for Hilda.
