Linda Davis March, age 58, passed away on Saturday, August 18th, 2012 after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with cancer.  She was an Erwin native who spent the majority of her adult life in Asheville, North Carolina.  During the last portion of her life, she was able to come home to live again in the Valley Beautiful.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Eulala Davis.  She is survived by her siblings, Beth Davis, Bryon Davis, and Dianne Christie, aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and extended family, and her two sons, Adam March and Drew March, whom she loved more than life itself.   She was an avid writer.  She published two books: from the Images of America Series, Erwin and Unicoi County, and the 1st Edition of the Insider’s Guide to North Carolina’s Mountains.  In addition to these, she had numerous articles featured in regional newspapers and magazines such as the Erwin Record, the Johnson City Press, and the Asheville Citizen-Times. She was also the scriptwriter for several documentaries around the Asheville area. During the latter years of her life, she devoted her time and energy into bettering the communities in Unicoi County as both a resident of Erwin and professionally as the Community Relations Coordinator for the Town of Unicoi.  She was instrumental in the planning and implementation of both the Wayne Scott Strawberry Festival and the Unicoi Freedom Fest in addition to overseeing and coordinating both the annual Christmas and Strawberry Festival Parades.  Even in the midst of terrible sickness, she brought life and joy to those who knew her. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of Heritage Baptist Church at 1512 John Exum Parkway, Johnson City, TN 37604 on Thursday, August 23rd, 2012. Receiving of friends and family will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with eulogies from her family to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Linda Davis March Memorial Fund to help defray funerary costs. If interested, please send all donations to the Clinchfield Federal Credit Union, c/o Rick Phillips at PO Box 310, Erwin, TN 37650.   Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.valleyfuneralhome.net.
