Ronnie Lee Edwards, age 63, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Unicoi Co. He was the son of Helen Edwards Sams of Erwin and the late Roy Sams. Ronnie served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated a truck, which he drove for Landstar for the last four years. He really enjoyed having his dog, Barney, ride with him as he drove his truck. He was a charter member of the Refuge Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed having them with him.Ronnie was a fan of and enjoyed listening to and playing his guitar and singing gospel music. He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Sams. In addition to his mother, he leaves behind: Wife: Merita Edwards One Daughter: Lisa Lung and husband Kenny, Erwin, TN Three Grandchildren: Kelan Lung, Ronald “Jamie” Lung and Lindsey Lung. Half-Sisters: Pauline Coberly, DE.     Betty Bryant, husband John, Erwin,TN     Carolyn Tipton, husband J. W., Erwin, TN  Half-Brother: Tony Engle, Erwin, TN        Ellis Engle Several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.   Services will be held Thursday, 7 PM, September 9, 2010, at the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend David Anderson, Reverend Jerry Conklin and Reverend Billy Bevan Jr., will officiate. Visitation will be 5 P.M. until service time, on Thursday, September 9, 2010. Interment will be Friday, 11 A. M., in Fishery Community Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Lung, Kelan Lung, Darren Higgins, Keith Garland, Terry Bailey, Brian Bailey, Drew Anderson and Mark Garland. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Thomas, Anthony Biggs, Boyd Hughes and Ed Phillips. Those that plan to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home on Friday, at 10:30 A.M. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jordan, Dr. Snyder, ICU staff of Johnson City Medical Center and Wanda Shelton. A Special “Thank You” to Terry and Brian Bailey and Daren Higgins. The family appreciates all the calls, prayers and support of our family and friends.
