Sterling S. Padgett, age 87, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Embreeville and currently lived in Erwin. He was the son of the late Algie and Mae Hensley Padgett. He retired after 20 years in the Navy and served in WWII. Mr. Padgett retired after 15 years at Nuclear Fuel Service. He was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid U.T. football fan. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son: Charles Padgett, three brothers: Clay Padgett, Charlie Padgett and E. A. Padgett, four sisters: Faye Padgett, Irene Padgett, Margaret Sue Padgett and Betty Arrowood. He leaves behind:    Wife: Hilda Britt Padgett Daughter: Lin Dutton, husband Don of Erwin, TN  Daughter-in-law: Delores Howard Padgett, Huntsville, AL  Two Brothers:              Glynn Padgett, FL             Bill Padgett, Erwin, TN  Grandchildren: Aaron Elliott, wife Sheryl, Unicoi, TN           Shane Elliott, wife Sarah, Knoxville, TN           Britt Padgett Saari, husband Chanc, Huntsville,AL           Sally Padgett Kostrzewa, husband John, Huntsville, AL           Katie Padgett Logsden, husband Doug, Dothan, AL  Great-grandchildren: Kaci NicoleElliott, Ethan Cameron Elliott, Peyton Ann Kostrzewa, Charles Palmer Kostrzewa, Charles Thomas Saari, and Sterling Alan Logsdon.  The funeral service will be at 6:00 PM, Sunday, June 27, 2010 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Rob Moor will officiate. Interment will follow immediately after the service to Evergreen Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
