William Smith "Sonny Boy" Watts, age 78, 130 Norton Hollow Road, Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Born in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of Arthur and Mildred Smith Watts. He bravely served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Panama. After leaving the Army, he came back to Erwin and worked for Southern Pottery and National Casket Company and retired from James H. Quillen Mountain Home in housekeeping. Other than his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Hardin. Bill leaves behind His wife, Sabba White Watts, Erwin; One son, Billy Lee Watts, Mountain City; Grandson, Chris Hardin, Asheville, NC; Two sisters, Florine Osburn, Erwin, and Dotty Oldham, Erwin; Funeral Services for Bill will be held Saturday, May 26, 2007, at One O'clock in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Rob Moor will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at White-Haun Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff White, Bobby Baucom, Ray White, Jerry White, Ronnie White, and Darrell White.
