Juanita Gouge

Juanita (Peterson) Gouge, age 87, of Green Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at The Waters of Johnson City. A native of Green Mountain, NC, Juanita is a daughter of the late Floyde B. and Ethel (Johnson) Peterson. She was an active member of Peterson Chapel Church of the Brethren in Green Mountain, NC, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader and Fundraiser for the church. She enjoyed gardening, farming and crafting. In addition to her parents, Juanita is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years: Kenneth Gouge; sister and brother-in-law: Wanda and Ted Tipton; and infant daughter: Anita Diana Gouge, who passed away shortly after birth.Juanita (Peterson) Gouge leaves behind to cherish her memory: Niece and Caregiver: Donna Tipton Charlton and husband, Michael; Several loving cousins; Special family friend: Donnie Slagle;The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Juanita (Peterson) Gouge in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Randy Griffith and Reverend Jim Griffith will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2020 and will continue until service time in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will follow the service in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those attending should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:00 pm on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
